Richard Enfield was walking home early one morning when he saw something shocking. A child confronted a man and the man shouted at her and walked away with tears. The little screamed, with her eyes filled with tears too. Her parents and neighbours came rushing out to see what had happened.
Richard quickly sprang towards the man and stopped him. Accidentally, he kissed the man. Richard was disgusted to see him being so disgusting and furious towards the man for taking his first kiss away. ( for man) Richard insisted that the man to give an explanation to him and also the child's parents and apologise to them.(Enfield included).
Richard was shocked when he saw the child's mother. She was his first girlfriend and the only one he had been a fool with. he then suspected that the child was his daughter.
When Dr. Grant arrived, Richard was shocked again. Dr. Grant was his Uncle Utterson's fifth boyfriend. Dr. Grant scolded everybody for requesting him to come over as he was having fun..... Dr. Grant was even frustrated after he took a quick look at Edie( the child) because she was not hurt at all, she was just losing her tears.
The man claimed that it was a breakup incident between both of them. Richard was extremely angry and scolded the man( Edward Hyde). He scolded: " You! How dare YOU! How dare you CHEAT on her!" Hyde kept quiet because he had fallen for Enfield since they kissed. But to let Richard forgive him, he explained and said: " She is still young, how could I destroy her bright future?"
Enfield could tolerate whatever was said by Hyde because Edie may be his daughter and how could he let his daughter be hurt by a man who took his kiss. So, he suggested that Hyde should take care of Edie with his whole life and pay for their expenses.
Hyde refused the conditions made by Enfield but he agreed to pay 100 pounds as their breaking up fees. Enfield accepted the offer. Edie's father was so curious why did Enfield had been so angry as he was nobody to Edie. He suspected something fishy was going on. So, he asked Enfield : " Why are you so concerned about my daughter? What is the relationship between the both of you?" Enfield did not know what to answer so he mumbled something and finally said: " She may......She may be my d......dau.....daugh......" Edie's father became fed up and shouted at Enfield : " What door?! My daughter is a HUMAN not a DOOR! Are you a MORON?!" Enfield could not tolerate Edie's father, he shouted: " You are the MORON! NOT ME! Why on earth are you interrogating me? Edie may be my daughter! What door? Did I mention about any door?!"
Edie's father was shocked and shouted at Enfield: " What the £$$% do you mean? What is it to do with your daughter ? Edie, your daughter? I thought you were her ex- boyfriend or something! " He continued with a suspicious look: " What do you mean? If Edie may be your daughter, that means you had have an affair with my wife?! ( he then turns towards his wife) Honey, come here!"
Edie's mother was startled and tried to escape but Dr. Grant( a busybody and curious to know the truth) grabbed her and sent her in front of the two man.
The wife didn't have the guts to say anything, she didn't dare to look straight into her husband's eyes. Edie's father interrogated her: " Honey, did you have an affair with this man?! Is Edie my daughter? I don't mean to say all this. I love you very much, only if you have always been LOYAL TO ME! "
Edie's mother answered with tears: " I......I...... I had ...... an...... affair......with......this man before! But ...... it was ......before our marriage! I am considered loyal to you, you know! You knew that I have always been loyal to you! Edie...... is YOUR DAUGHTER ! How could you ever suspect about the relationship between Edie and you and my loyalty to you?! You know that I have always love you ever since we met! Are you a fool?!
Edie's father was totally speechless he didn't know what to say. Enfield was shocked and asked: " Dear, I thought we had have happy moments ! Don't you remember ? The night in the bar...... I was there drinking and you were the waitress there...... I had ...... I meant we had fallen in love since the that wonderful day we met!"
Edie's mother was shocked. She didn't aspect Enfield would still remember that. She just stood there in silence. Edie's father fainted and so did Edie( because she was dehydrated from crying too much ). So, they stood only Edie's mother, Enfield, Hyde and Dr. Grant. Dr. Grant practically shocked about what Enfield said. He could not believe it because he actually had fallen for Enfield all this while! Hyde knows that Grant had some unusual feelings towards Enfield, he could see it through Grant's eyes. At the same time, he also had some feelings for Grant. He could not tolerate himself for having feelings for two men at the same time and also the same place. To release his anger by trampling over Edie's doll. ( Edie's father had woke up.)
A man from the crowd suggested that they should call the police as he was afraid that Edie's father would fight with Enfield whereas another man suggested instead that Hyde should settle everything because he was the one who spoiled the Edie's doll and he was also the one who brought up the incident.
Hyde was confused with his feelings and also his anger. So, he asked everyone who involved in the incident to go his lodgings. He then paid the amount of money that he had promised to Edie's family. He also helped Enfield to pay some money to Edie's father so that he would shut his mouth for rest his life about the incident between Edie's family and Enfield. Hyde paid in cheque as he didn't have any cash with him. Enfield was surprised to see the cheque signed by Henry Jekyll whom he knew to be a famous doctor in London.
Enfield suspected the relationship between Hyde and Jekyll but he kept quiet.
After the matter was settled, everybody left but Enfield kept on starring at Edie's father......
